I’m a 3rd generation manufacturer of high end upholstered furniture who has worked in, managed, and ultimately owned a bespoke upholstered furniture factory, spending my entire career immersed in the design and production of lounge, bedroom and dining room furniture for the retail and wholesale market.

Growing up within a working factory environment gave me hands on exposure to every stage of the manufacturing process, from initial product conceptualisation and frame engineering through to upholstery design, materials sourcing, production costing, and wholesale supply. This wasn’t theoretical knowledge acquired in a classroom or in front of a PC but practical experience built across decades of real production, complex client briefs, and the daily problem solving that comes with running a high output manufacturing operation.

I also hold a background in Aeronautical Engineering, having pursued a BSc(Eng) at the University of the Witwatersrand. That foundation in structural logic, load analysis, and design modelling has informed how I approach furniture frame construction throughout my career in ways that go beyond what the industry typically brings to the discipline.
